About Maestra Julia

I am originally from Arlington, Virginia. I left home to go to college in Boston where I studied psychology and anthropology. After graduating, I moved to Portland and worked for several years at Grout Elementary as a Bilingual Educational Assistant and SUN school teacher, then went on to study education and get my Masters at Lewis & Clark Graduate School. I'm very proud and grateful to be working at Bridger after performing my student teaching there with Maestro Hugo Nava.

I love working with kids, and I've found that in teaching no two days are the same, no two students are the same, and no two teachers are the same, which for me is both exciting and challenging. Teaching 4th grade is very special to me because the material can be so hands on. The students are getting to an age where they are becoming more independent and mindful, and that allows for deeper exploration,  critical thinking and consideration of different perspectives or methods.

Thank you for all your support this year! Please know that it is greatly appreciated.
